Being confined to one’s home for the duration of the coronavirus crisis may be an excellent reason to engage in more piano practice, but you may have questions arising out of your practising.
In this new series, inspired by teaching sessions and conversations (in a London coffee shop) with a friend from my London piano group, I would like to offer support and encouragement to adult amateur pianists who are stranded at home and who may be stuck on a particular passage of a piece, struggling to practice productively, or have questions about repertoire, technique, interpretation, exams and more.

Frances Wilson holds Licentiate and Associate Diplomas (both with distinction) in Piano Performance, and for 12 years ran a popular, over-subscribed private piano teaching practice from her home in SW London. She has written articles on piano playing for Pianist magazine’s online content, has acted as a syllabus consultant for LCM and Trinity College London piano exams, and contributed teaching notes for the current ABRSM piano syllabus.
She has studied privately with Penelope Roskell (Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at Trinity-Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance) and Graham Fitch, and has participated in masterclasses and courses with Sarah Beth Briggs, Murray McLachlan, Stephen Savage, Charlotte Tomlinson and Alan Fraser.
